Earlier this week, Skype was the talk of the social networking world when the popular service temporarily bit the dust and sustained an outage that had people wondering what was wrong from every corner of the globe. From desktop to mobile applications, Skype went down for the count, a situation that has since been reversed but not without a lot of additional attention on the popular social networking platform....
As a result, Skype users may no longer be in the dark on a forthcoming update to the service that is already generating substantial buzz for obvious reasons. It appears that a soon-to-be launched update for Skype Mobile will prove significant for iPhone 4 (and new iPod touch) owners. Skype is allegedly planning to introduce video calling capabilities for Skype Mobile on iOS. Proof of the looming update comes from a help document "discovered" on Skype’s official website - a doc titled “How do I make video calls with Skype for iPhone?” That was sort of the obvious giveaway.
The document, however, points out that additional data charges may apply, so be sure to "check with your operator for details." While iOS may be the first major recipient of the video chat update, there's also talk of Android - and others - getting tossed into the mix before long. Check out what Skype has to say about the upcoming update by visiting Skype's mobile download page.
